What I'm Enjoying ...

Today ... What I'm Enjoying!

* great smells ...
Last week, I told you guys about all of the very good smelly smells I found at Target. This is a big time favorite ...

I may or may not be stockpiling just in case Target decides to discontinue carrying it! #smellgoodpreparedness

* great weather ...
This week the weather has been gorgeous! I am enjoying that this is the last week of Winter ... because I am totally OVER WINTER ... OVER IT!

* a great read ...
I read this book while we were on vacation a couple of weekends ago ...

It is so great! Such great, practical advice ... I even highlighted & put notes in the margin. Definitely one of those books I'll keep close by & reference often!

* great kicks ...
I got these for Christmas & have been waiting for warmer weather to wear them ...

This week's weather has been perfect Chuck-wearing weather!!! Loving them ... a lot!

So, that's what I'm enjoying!
I had planned on this being the last
"what i'm ..." post, but
Bestie gave me a great idea for 1 more week.
Next week ... What I'm Pinning!
{Seriously, Pinterest could be my job!}

what I'm wearing ...

I've had so much fun with this "What I'm ..." series!
Today ...What I'm Wearing!

Prepare yourself for lots of casualness ...

* Stella & Dot ...
If you have been reading this blog for more than 2 seconds, you know I am a huge Stella & Dot fan. I wear at least 1 piece of their jewelry every single day. I love their charms & engraveables ...

& my favorite S&D bracelets ...

renegade cluster, gilded arrow, christina link

* boots ...

Between all of the rain, ice, snow, & coldness ... my boots have been working overtime.

* THE long, gray cardi ...

I found this at TJ Maxx ... which is a small miracle. I usually avoid the entire clothing area at TJ Maxx ... looking through all of those racks of clothing gives me a nervous tick. It just exceeds the limitations of my medication. However, I must have been having an exceptionally mellow day when I came across this cardi ... time & money well spent. I wear this thing ALL OF THE TIME! It's a great length, super soft, & goes with everything!

* Denizen skinny jeans ...

I loooove these jeans ... denizen stretch skinny jeans from Target. They are the perfect jeans ... easy to dress up or down!

Next week ... what I'm eating! I'll be sharing a few of my favorite recipes!

what I'm listening to ...

Wednesday on the pink couch means it's time for what I'm doing ....

Today is all about what I'm listening to .... the music & a couple of other things I'm listening to & loving these days!

First up ... here are a few of my very favorite tunes right now ...

* Kari Jobe ... "I Am NotAlone"

I am a huge Kari Jobe fan & her latest CD, Majestic, is playing constantly in my car ... love this song, especially!

* Cloverton  ... "Bridge"

A friend of ours plays drums for Cloverton & we got to see them live Monday night. This was my favorite song that they performed ... such great lyrics!

If you are local to Eastern NC ... they are having a FREE concert at Garber Church in New Bern THIS Thursday night at 7!!! Come out & see them! I'll be there!!!!!

* Francesca Battistelli ... "He Knows My Name"

I think Francesca Battistelli has the most fun songs! Love the message in this one!

Now ...here are a few other things I'm listening to ...

* The Big Boo Cast ...

Two of my favorite bloggers, Big Mama & Boo Mama, do a podcast about once a month & I loooove listening to their nonsense. You can find all of their podcasts here! They talk about everything under the sun ... & they are so funny together.

* Lifeway Women's Devotions ...

I can't say enough how much I love these CD's ... 12 short devotions from women like Beth Moore, Karen Kingsbury, Kelly Minter, Lisa Harper ... There is a ton of wisdom in these 2 discs! Love listening while I'm in carpool or running quick errands.

That's it .... what I'm listening to!

OK ... how about you??? What are listening to these days?

what I'm watching ...

After I typed the title of this post, I realized it sounded very peeping tom-ish ... However, I stuck with it because it goes with my whole "what i'm ...." series. So, there.

Up today ... "what I'm watching"

* Fixer Upper
I love this show & absolutely adore the hosts, Chip & Joanna Gaines! They are a married couple that helps families choose a home to purchase (that usually looks like hobos have been living in it) ...

& then turns it into something straight out of a magazine!

Seriously, it borderlines on miraculous what those 2 can do. Not only are they freakishly talented in the area of home makeovers, but they are so stinking cute together!
{HGTV, Tuesday nights @ 9 EST}

* Downton Abbey
Ummmm .... obviously!

If you aren't watching Downton, then there is no way to possibly describe to you what you are missing. And let me warn you ... don't just start watching now. To fully understand the series & to be able to truly follow each storyline, you NEED to go back & watch the previous seasons. There's no way around it, you just do. However, it is totally worth it!!!!
{PBS, Sunday nights @ 9 EST}

* Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
First of all & for the record let me state ... if loving this show is wrong, I don't wanna be right! I love this show & I don't even care who knows it!

 I love these crazy women & their made up crazy "problems" & parties that always end in screaming & someone being upset because so & so didn't "have their back" ... it is all just fabulous! And don't even get me started about Lisa Rinna & Eileen Davidson (Ashley from Young & the Restless) being on this season!!! Perfection, y'all!
{Bravo, Tuesday night 9 EST}

* American Idol
Just like Downton, this goes without saying! Of course, I watch Idol!!!! How could I not!

I love that the show went through a makeover a couple of years ago, so it's not such a circus of freak-shows anymore. They show a lot of really good talent & the judges reeeaaallllly know what they're talking about & don't try to degrade the contestants.
{Fox, Wednesday & Thursday night @ 8 EST}

* Little House on the Prairie
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that one of  mine & Priss's new favorite things is to cuddle up on the couch & watch old episodes of Little House together. We've watched so much & she loves it so much she's started calling Mister "Pa" ...

Can I just say ... they do not make shows like this anymore! Our favorite episode so far was entitled "Haunted House" ... y'all ... it was precious beyond words. Google it, Netflix it, do whatever you have to do ... find it, watch it, & have tissues handy. you can find this episode HERE!
{Hallmark Channel, weekdays @ 2, 3, & 4 EST}

Ok ... that's my top 5 What I'm Watching list!!! Your turn .... what are you watching??

what i'm reading ..

So, today is the first post in my "What I'm ..." series!

If you had no idea that I was doing a little bloggy series ... you can read all about it here!

First up... what 'm reading.

I've mentioned a few books here & there that I've been reading over the last couple of months, but wanted to give you a list ... like I did here!

I try to read at least 1 book each month ... because, well, it's good to stay literate. And, also, I feel that it makes Mama & Daddy feel like they got their money's worth out of my college education.

So .... here are a few that I've just finished, am reading now, & are next on my list!!!!

* House Girl
     by:  Tara Conklin
This is a book that my cousin (that I call Sis, cause I just do) practically ran me down in a parking lot & threw in my car. She had just finished it & knew I'd love it. She was right. It's a book about 2 different women ... a slave girl living in the South in the 1850's & a young lawyer living in modern-day New York. Their stories are intertwined & I love how the author connected the 2 women that lived 150 years apart. A great story about family & finding justice for someone who deserved it.

* And Then I Had Teenagers
     by: Susan Alexander Yates
After by oldest became a teenager this past summer a friend of mine sent me this book. She has 2 girls less than 2 years apart & she swears by this book. This book is full of great advice ... & if there is one thing I need it is good advice! Tips for dealing with moral issues, setting limits while giving teens more independence, & staying connected to your child ... all from a Christian perspective. At the end of each section of the book there is a study section with insightful questions ... which have been really helpful.

* Home Is Where My People Are
     by: Sophie Hudson
I don't know another thing I could possibly tell you about this book that I haven't already told you HERE! I {big puffy heart} looooooved this book ... like I want to sleep with it at night like it's my teddy bear kind-of love it! I loved every single page! Sophie writes like she's just sitting at the dinner table with you telling stories about her life. Love, love, love this book! Read it! Trust me!

* Lineage of Grace
     by: Francine Rivers
I have loved reading this book! It tells the story of 5 women in the lineage of Christ ... Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, & Mary. It is based on scripture, but the author gives fictional dialog & situations that may have happened within what the Bible tells us... really telling the women's story. At the end of each woman's section there is a 6 part study with scripture & questions that make each story apply to our life today. It is GREAT!!!! I highly recommend reading it!

* Wine to Water
     by: Doc Hendley
One of my brothers met Doc at an event & brought his book back for me. His book is about his journey from a sort-of lost soul trying to find purpose in life to founding the Wine to Water organization that provides clean water to people in the farthest corners of the world that wouldn't have it otherwise. So many of us want to do something to help others, but don't know how or what or where. Doc read about the world's water crisis & IS doing something about it in a HUGE way.  He's traveled to some of the most dangerous places in the world so families can have clean water. Such a great example of not just talking about a problem, but doing something about it ... a remarkable & really inspiring story.

* I Must Say: My Life As a Humble Comedy Legend
     by: Martin Short
Martin Short's autobiography ... HILARIOUS & heart-warming ... just like him! I loved reading about his childhood & his early years as a comedic actor ... and the precious way he writes about his late wife, Nancy. A really fun book. And also, all of his friends are super-famous, funny people & he has great stories about his relationship with them ... Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Eugene Levy, Gilda Radnor.

Next on my "to read" list ...
* Redeeming Love
     by Francine Rivers
Ash (bestie) & I were in the bookstore when we saw this book & she had a total moment. She read this book like 20 years ago & recently told me I needed to read it. Well, when we saw it at the bookstore she took it off the shelf, hugged it like a child, & proceeded to ooo & aahhh about how great it was ... so, obviously, it's next on my list!

Your turn ... what have you been reading lately???

what I'm doing ...

Over the next few weeks I'll be doing a "What I'm ..." series.

I am sure you are just filled with all sorts of anticipation & excitement over this development.

Here's the thing ... I have no idea if most of you even care what the heck I'm doing. To be honest, there are days when I don't even care what I'm doing. BUT ... a few of you do ask every now & then about a good book or a favorite movie or what I'm liking at Target these days (answer: all of the things!). So, I have taken upon myself to subject all of you to my answers.

So, over the next few Wednesdays, I'll be sharing some favorite books, music, TV shows, food, & if you want to know anything else just leave it in the blog comments. Please don't ask me to write about anything science-y or arithmetic-y ... because I am not qualified in those areas.

If you happen to think this is a horrible idea & the thought of reading about what I'm doing makes you want to gauge your eyeballs out ... I give you permission to not read on Wednesdays.

But know that I'll miss you.

But I hope you'll read.

But you don't have to if you don't want to.

OK?

OK!
