favorite things friday: flea market, food, & reads ...

Some weeks you just can't wait for Friday to show up ...
However, I am particularly sad that
this Friday has rolled around,
because we've been knee deep
in Spring Break at the little pink couch household!

There is little more I enjoy more than large expanses of time where we can sleep in, wear pajamas until an embarrassing time of day, & eat at drive-thrus like it's our job. We have excelled in each of those areas this week! #overachievers

I have been absent in blog world this week, because of all of the aforementioned Spring Break laziness ... BUT I am back today with all sorts of favorites! So, here we go ...

* The Go Girl Shoppe

Bestie & I headed to the Raleigh flea market last weekend to visit the Go Girl Shoppe.
I wanted 1 of everything in their booth!!!

Click the link under the picture above to see a few of their goodies & to find out where they'll be next. They are inside the Raleigh Flea Market just about every Saturday & Sunday and have a booth at tons of festivals all over NC!

* No Bake Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter Bars
Bestie saw Trisha Yearwood make these on her Food Network show & when I heard chocolate & peanut butter were involved it was decided that we were making these bad boys!

Easiest thing EVER! & they are now going to be my "go-to" desert item!

* Green Bean & Egg Salad

I found this recipe on Pinterest this week & it was the perfect thing to do with all of my leftover hard boiled eggs from Easter! Super yummy & super filling!!!

You can find the recipe in the link under the picture.

* Seamless

Angie Smith released her first Bible Study, Seamless!

I am 1 week into it & love it!

It's all about seeing the Bible as 1 complete story & how each book the of the Bible connects to others.

Studying the Bible can be really intimidating, but Angie has such a way of presenting it in a very understandable way! Highly recommend it if you are looking for a new study!

* Nobody's Cuter Than You

Melanie Shankle (from the Big Mama Blog) released her 3rd book this week ... Nobody's Cuter Than You!

A memoir all about friendship & how important friends are in our lives.

Melanie is hilarious & tells the best stories! Love her writing!

Have a great weekend!!!!

What I'm Eating ...

Hope you've been enjoying all of my "What I'm ..." posts.
If you've missed any of them so far ...
you can find them ALL HERE!!!!

Today ... What I'm Eating!

You know how some people can get in the kitchen & just whip up anything with whatever they happen to have in their pantry??? Yea, well, that is not in my particular skill set!

I can read a recipe & I know how to use measuring cups ... so that's the extent of it. I love finding EASY recipes & Pinterest is a treasure trove!

Here are a few recipes I've come across on Pinterest that are on constant rotation in my kitchen ...
(click the links below the pictures to get original recipes)

CREAMY ITALIAN CHICKEN

Ruth from Living Well, Spending Less came up with this yummy recipe! What I love most about it (other than being super easy) is that before cooking, you are able to divide it & freeze 1/2 of it for later!

TACO SOUP

This is one of my Winter favorites ... just dump everything in the crockpot & 4 hours later, it's ready ... SUPER EASY! The only change I make to this recipe is using chicken instead of beef .... and right before serving I shred the chicken.

SPICY SAUSAGE PASTA

I LOVE this recipe! Super easy & super yummy ... these leftovers don't last very long at our house. And if you haven't noticed ... I'm a big fan of cream & pasta!

& here's my latest favorite snack ....

graham crackers with peanut butter!!!!

& also, it goes without saying that I'm eating these ...

lots & LOTS of these!!!!!
amen & hallelujah!

walking tacos!

My kids love those huge bags of the small individual bags of assorted chips ... we are very fancy!
However, nobody eats the Fritos ... so, we have like a dozen of them that have been piling up over the last few weeks.

I came across the perfect thing to do with them while browsing the streets of Pinterest the other day ...

Walking Tacos!!!!!

here is all you need:

small bags of Fritos (Doritos are good, too)

taco meat

extras (lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc)

Just put all of your taco fillings inside of your Frito bag & there you have it! Walking Tacos!!!!

Really easy ... and a great way for me to get rid of all of those Fritos fun way to eat tacos!

treats for the 4th!

Yesterday Priss & I made some yummy treats to help us celebrate the 4th! Patriotic Rice Krispy Treats!

Because, nothing says let's celebrate America's freedom like half a stick of butter & melted marshmallows!!!!!

I used THE ORIGINAL TREATS RECIPE from Mr. Rice Krispy himmself ...

3 T butter (I used 4T)
10 oz marshmallows (I reserved a couple of oz)
6 C Rice Krispies
I added red, white, & blue sprinkles

After we melted the butter & the marshmallows on low heat we stirred it into the Rice Krispies & a couple of ounces of marshmallows I put aside ... combine well & pour into a 9 X 13 dish ...

... zhoosh it up with sprinkles

... use wax paper to press them into the pan.

... and wah lah!!!! TREATS FOR THE 4th!!!!! Easy peazy!!!!

Pure Heaven!

Guess what, y'all!!! I have found another recipe to share with you!!!! A friend of mine posted  a recipe named "Reese's Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies" on Facebook last week.  However, the only name I feel that is completely appropriate is "Pure Heaven!"  It is basically a chocolate chip cookie with a Reese's Cup in the middle! Hallelujah!

Since we are sitting inside looking at 6 inches of snow in our yard, I felt a good way to lift my spirits was to do a little baking!

Now ... for the sake of full disclosure, the chocolate chip cookies in the original recipe are completely homemade. BUT in the words of the great theologian, Sweet Brown, "ain't nobody got time for that!" I bought good 'ole Pillsbury slice & bakes (why reinvent the wheel) & mini Reese's Cups!

I just let the cookie dough thaw for a little while so it was a bit easier to work with then I just nestled a Reese's in the middle & covered it with dough.  Baked at 350* for about 15 minutes & total yum!!!!

Way easy ... which just happens to be the only kind of cooking I know how to do!

the perfect new year's dip!!!

I am going to share one of my favorite family recipes ... it is the perfect dip for a New Year's gathering. Why? you ask .... because it has 2 pounds of cheese in it! Case closed!

My cousin makes this dip every year for our family Christmas lunch & it gets DEVOURED!

I have taken the liberty of naming this recipe ....
*Mark's Little Gift to the World*

you'll need ....
1 lb sausage
1 lb hamburger
2 lb block of Velveeta cheese
1 jar of Pace picante
1 small can of diced tomatoes

Brown the sausage & hamburger ... drain & set aside.
Cube the Velveeta & melt over low heat while stirring.
Once cheese is melted transfer it to a crock pot & add meat.
Stir in Pace picante & diced tomatoes .... set crock pot on low heat while serving.
Serve with Scoop Tostidos.

It doesn't look pretty, but it is just about the yummiest thing I've ever experienced ... true story! And I may, or may not, have been known to eat it with a spoon & not worried with a chip ... it's THAT good! Enjoy!
