I came across this quote from Elisabeth Elliot this week &
I fell in love with it!
Mrs. Elliot is such an incredible woman.
She & her husband were missionaries in Ecuador.
In the early 1950's, her husband set
out to share Christ with the Aucas people,
an unreachable tribe that no one had
met & come out alive.
After an initial peaceful meeting,
her husband & 4 other missionaries were murdered by the tribe.
Guess what Elisabeth did ...
She didn't pack up & go home.
She stayed in Ecuador &
shared Christ with the people there.
Eventually, she ended up living with
& ministering to the very tribe that murdered her husband
for two years!
Isn't that incredible?
This quote is such a testimony
of how she lived her life during that time.
She left it all ...
her circumstances, her well being,
her very life
in the hands that were wounded for her!
It sounds like such an easy thing to do.
Just leave it to Jesus ...
let Him take care of it.
I can't count how many times I've
done the exact opposite.
I've wanted to be the one in control
of the beginning, middle, & end of my story!
What I should've been doing all along
was leaving it in Christ's hands.
His ways are better than mine.
He knows how my story will end before it
even begins!
Trusting Him should be our first instinct ...
not our last resort.
