don't allow bitterness to take root ...

i heard a great teaching from
angela thomas this past week
about being mature in your faith & not
letting bitterness take root in your life.

we all have reasons we could be bitter.
i was treated unfairly...
i didn't get the promotion i should have ...
my friend betrayed me ...
my marriage has ended ...
on & on & on.
& guess what, as long as we live
there will always be something
that, if we let it, could grow bitterness in our hearts.

ephesians 4:31&32 says,
"get rid of all bitterness, rage & anger ...
be kind & compassionate to one another."

when we find true peace in Christ,
bitterness has no place in our lives.
we can claim to trust Christ's plan for us,
but if we continue to hold onto bitterness
from past experiences are we really
trusting Christ?

some of us have held onto bitterness for so long
we don't even know how to live without it ...
like it's been a companion in our lives.
some of us continue being bitter just for the sake of being bitter...
like we don't know any other way to be.

God's word says to get rid of ALL bitterness.
don't hold onto a single ounce of it!
trade in bitterness & anger for
kindness & compassion!

life is so much sweeter & rewarding
when you are walking in kindness & compassion
toward others.
