shuttering: color me ....

the shuttering continues ...

next up...
to decide on the color.
i knew i wanted something
in the robin's egg blue family.
so, i went to where i always go for advice ...
PINTEREST!

i've been pinning shutter
pics for a while &
it was really helpful
to see what all types of colors
would look like
on other houses that
look similar to ours.

here are just a couple ...

after finding a few colors i liked,
i got out my paint fandeck,
& hemmed & hawed ...
 {it's soooooo hard to
know what a color
is going to really look like
just by the little 1/2" swatch}
I settled on 2 colors I really liked
& thought would look great.

wythe blue - benjamin moore

stratton blue - benjamin moore

so ...
i went to Lowe's & had them
mix me up a paint sample.
{they only had the base color to mix the wythe blue ...
so, i took what i could}
& decided to use poster board
to make a faux shutter....

that way, i could stand back &
see what it would really look like...
against the brick
against the siding
& at various times of day

& here she sits .....

i LOVED it!
& was so glad mr. lowe's
didn't have the other color...

wythe blue from benjamin moore it is!!!!
i can't wait to see it on those shutters!!!!
