gen-er-ous - 1. showing a readiness to

give more of something than is

strictly necessary or expected. 2.showing

kindness toward others. 

 

gra-cious - courteous, kind, & pleasant

see what these 2 words have in common?
kindness!!!

being generous & gracious to others is
all about showing kindness ....
so simple, yet so difficult sometimes.
 

 the Bible tells us
to pray for our enemies,
to turn the other cheek,
to love our neighbor,
to be slow to anger,
to be generous & gracious ...

i don't know about y'all, but for me
that's a tall order on some days.
it's not the "easy" thing to do.
when someone hurts my feelings
i want to be angry & hold a grudge.
i want to be human & say something hurtful back.
but ... that's not i'm called to do.

 trying to live a life of kindness is not an easy thing,
but it is the right thing to do.
& i really do try ...

so, if you happen to see me on one of THOSE days
& i happen to look like i'm about to
unleash the flying monkeys ...
please remind me to be kind.
please remind me to be generous & gracious to others.

i need to be reminded.
