the creaking of a rusty gate...

words without love is just noise ...

 

we can use big words,

beautiful lyrics,

perfectly planned speeches ...

but without love it is noise.

 

i want my words to be more than noise.

i want them to be filled with

love for others.

i don't want my words, deeds, or actions

to be like the creaking of a rusty gate

... just an annoying noise.

 

1 Corinthians 13

is called the "love" chapter

because it gives us this definition of love...

 

doesn't give up

cares more for others than for self

doesn't want what it doesn't have

doesn't strut

doesn't have a swelled head

doesn't force it self on others

isn't always "me first"

doesn't fly off the handle

doesn't keep score

doesn't revel when others grovel

takes pleasure in truth

puts up with anything

trusts God always

always looks for the best

never looks back

never dies

i'll be the first to admit my words don't always reflect this type of love

... but it's something to shoot for!
