my in-laws are 2 of the most
precious people that have ever walked the earth.
i couldn't have chosen better in-laws
if i'd picked them out of the sears & roebuck catalog.
they live on the family's old dairy farm
in a farmhouse that 5 generations of
my mother-in-law's family have lived in.
we love the farm & our kids have so much fun there.
well, one thing about the farm is
there happen to be a few animals there.
& these animals are not pets .... if you know what I mean.
many times we'll go over for dinner
& we happen to
know the name of the animal we are eating.
you'll hear things being said around the dinner table like:
"well ...tonight we are eating Bessie."
or
"my goodness! didn't Clover make a delicious steak!"
{out of respect for the dear animals,
i have changed their names,
god rest their souls.}
now, you might think that's odd or awkward &
it was the first 6 or 7 times I heard it,
but now we just all chime in with agreement.
.
.
& do me a favor ....
if you ever visit the farm,
please don't mention this post to any of the other animals.
we don't want any defectors!
