a little pinspiration ... old & new

i found this on pinterest the other day
{by the way, i spend entirely too much time
in pinterest land, but i CANNOT help myself}.

i love this!
i think this is some of the
most wonderful decorating advice i've ever, ever read!!!

you don't have to follow a bunch of rules ...
just do what feels right to you.
buy things that make you happy,
decorate your house with pieces that
have been passed down from family
OR
from besties that don't want a pink couch anymore.

don't feel like everything has to bought in a set or
has to be matchy-matchy...
go with what you love!

besides pinkie, a few of my favorite pieces in our home are:

this table came from Target (i've had forever).
it was originally black, but i painted it this fun aqua last year.

this is one of the first pieces my mr. & i bought.
we found it in an antique store &
i loved the size .... not too big, not too small.

this is probably one of the hardest working
pieces of furniture in our house.
it's the expedit from IKEA &
i love, love, love it!

& 1 more ...
this armoire was my great aunt's.
it lives in our living room.
{I would open it up & show you the inside,
but i'm afraid i'd get suffocated in the avalanche that
would occur when I opened the door}.
this piece holds quilts, games, & anything else that
needs a hiding spot when an unexpected visitor comes over.
she's a hardworker, too!

so, you see .... an eclectic mix,
new & old,
but it all works.

so, just a little "pinspiration":
"it is the old, the new, the made,
the hand-me-down, the collected, the worn (but loved)
things in your home that make it your own."
